The very first American Chamber of Commerce in Mali (AMCHAM) was inaugurated on November 16, 2023 by Ms. Bagayogo Aminata Traoré and Ms. Rachna Korhonen, respectively Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment and Vocational Training and Ambassador of the United States of America to Mali. Created only on October 10, 2023 and housed in the Lilou building in Hamdallaye ACI 2000, this chamber is chaired by our compatriot Hamadou Cissé with Diango Cissé as Vice-President Diango.
Mali is a land of opportunities with enormous economic potential that is under-exploited and exported in an inefficient manner (cotton, livestock, natural resources, etc.). Young people represent more than 70% of the Malian population. And they must participate in the sustainable development of the country. Especially since our country has been facing a multidimensional crisis for a decade and is waiting for investments and commitments from private economic operators here and elsewhere. There is therefore a huge void in this area.
With its inauguration and the official launch of its activities on November 16, 2023 (a memorable date now in Mali in the economic history between Mali and the United States of America), AMCHAM is filling a huge void by creating a bridge to promote cooperation ties between Malian and American investors.
ROAD SERVICES: Realistic recommendations to improve road works in Mali
The work of the 49th edition of the Annual Meeting of Road Services ended last Saturday (November 18, 2023) in Ségou. The closing of these meetings was marked by the organization of a symbolic ceremony at the Korè Cultural Center.
This 49th edition of the Annual Meeting of Road Services brought together stakeholders involved in the Infrastructure sub-sector. The discussions, sometimes heated but objective, made it possible to formulate recommendations with a view to contributing to the improvement of road works in Mali. These include, among other things, increasing the resources allocated to road maintenance through the application of the minimum community rate of the RURPP, i.e. 60 CFA francs / liter of fuel; improving the level of road service and preserving road heritage; strengthening the capacities of road maintenance stakeholders; of the effective and efficient implementation of road maintenance programs.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Ms. Diarra Assitan Kéita, Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. On behalf of Minister Dembélé Madina Sissoko, she invited all stakeholders (the road administration and the awardees of contracts) to work in synergy of actions for greater performance. She also urged the General Directorate of Roads to redouble its efforts and fully accomplish its supervision missions so that the deadlines for completion of the works are respected.
